Funny Business with Jane Lynch

My photo exhibit in Virgin Hotel Chicago has allowed me to meet some very interesting people. But I have to say that last Friday was one for the books. I went to go see Burlesco and photograph the show, and while that was (as always) good fun, I ended up with the opportunity to shoot Jane Lynch and the cast and crew from her show “See Jane Sing”. They had just finished a sold out show at the Lyric and were having a private event in the Shag Room…literally sitting under my risque photos of burlesque performers.

Jane Lynch was absolutely lovely and after our quick shoot for a Q&A piece Virgin was doing with her (Funny Talk in The Funny Library), I had a moment to chat with her. She was sitting in the Shag Room and couldn’t have been more complimentary about my photography as she declared to all the others sitting in the room that I had shot the photos hanging on the crushed velvet curtains. Her castmates, Kate Flannery (from The Office) and Tim Davis (Glee’s vocal coordinator) were equally as kind and down to earth.

All around, it was a rather surreal evening, in the best kind of way. I prefer life that way, don’t you?

Below are some of the candid shots of the cast and crew hanging out, starting with a glorious portrait that I shot of Tim Davis, upon his request. He pulled me aside and said, “Don’t you think you should take my photo on the grand staircase?” And I agreed, it was something that needed to be done. He was dapper as could be in a tux, and a natural at finding the light! This shot on the landing of the “grand staircase” is definitely up there with my favorite shots I’ve ever taken.
