Benchmark: Where Architecture Meets Atmosphere

Another gem in the 4 Corners collection that I’ve had the pleasure of capturing is Benchmark – and let me tell you, this place is an absolute photographer’s dream! The innovative design (originally designed by SPACE Architects) has created something truly special here, and I get excited every time I get to showcase it through my lens.

A Space That Takes Your Breath Away
The star of the show? An incredible retractable roof that peels back to reveal the Old Town sky above transforms the entire dining experience – not just for the upstairs, but for the first floor as well! The seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces is *chef’s kiss.

The Photography Challenge
We knew we wanted a beautiful day to shoot to really showcase the space. The day of the shoot was gorgeous; it also happened to be one of the hottest of the summer. The heat wasn’t an issue, but the contrast between the upstairs patio that was bathed in sunlight and the interior side of the building was stark. The transition between the bright exterior and dimmer interiors created complex lighting situations that I wanted to overcome so that the connected interior/exterior spaces felt fluid.

In order to accomplish this, I shot additional multiple exposures beyond what I typically shoot for each panoramic image in order to ensure that I had good exposures available for all areas.
In post production, I carefully balanced the exposures to ensure the final virtual tour looked natural and matched what the human eye would see.

More Than Just Pretty Pictures
While the architecture is undoubtedly stunning, my virtual tour needed to do more than just show off the space. It needed to:
– Help potential customers understand the unique dining experience
– Showcase the versatility of the space (hello, event planners!)
– Capture both the intimate corners and the grand open areas
– Show how the retractable roof transforms the atmosphere
