Howells & Hood may be the ultimate downtown Chicago dining experience. Housed in the old Tribune Tower building, this space has everything. There’s a huge bar inside with beer taps that seem to go forever, the main dining room is warm and inviting (shown above), there’s a private dining room, there’s a large private events room with its own bar, in the summertime there’s no competing with their outside patio that has views of the NBC tower, and Michigan Avenue, as well as a very cool outside bar and even a little fireplace for the occasional chilly evening. I love the copper throughout the space, as well as the inspiring quotes that are engraved in the walls.
Here’s a little excerpt from their website:
Nestled at the base of Chicago’s legendary Tribune Tower, this stunning restaurant is a vibrant addition to Michigan Avenue and downtown Chicago. Incorporating signature Tribune elements into our design, Howells & Hood pays homage to John Howells and Raymond Hood, architects of the Neo-Gothic landmark. With a Modern American food menu, the largest craft beer selection in chicago, and impressive staff, Howells & Hood is sure to delight foodies and beer lovers alike.
